Work Potluck - what to bring?
I'm supposed to bring a Chinese dish to feed 5-6 people for a work potluck. What should I bring? Its supposed to be Chinese... Should I do dim sum, fird rice, dumplings or any other ideas? I'm a terrible cook so it has to be something I can order takeout for in Manhattan. Thx!
Dim sum and dumplings wont travel well, unfortunately.
Fried rice is a good idea, as well as barbecued pork, roast chicken or duck, sesame balls, moon cakes, or anything that good be good at room temp if it comes to that.

Where will you be, and when will you purchase relative to when the potluck is happening?
The fried chicken with peanuts and ginger from Legend, and the sauteed lotus root from Cafe China could travel ok. The Chengdu spicy pork wontons from Cafe China probably won't travel too well, but jeez that sauce is indeed as drinkable as everyone has described: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8085...

Maybe the salads from Xian Famous Foods? The Tiger Vegetables is cold so it should be fine to travel.
