Venison in LA?
Please help! I'm a newlywed and my husband only wants one thing for his birthday on 11/25 (well maybe two things, but one is hard to find) - venison! Please help me find a place that is guaranteed to have venison on the menu the day after Thanksgiving.
Call Saddle Peak Lodge to see if it is on their menu as a part of their wild game trio.

ASH SPICED VENISON is on Scarpetta's Thanksgiving menu. Call to see if it will be on the menu after that night.

Just some thoughts on the above so far based on their on-line menus:
Saddle Peak Lodge - "Elk" Tenderloin = close enough ? ask hubbie; but no "Venison" entree.
Cut, Josie, Scarpetta & Craft = Zero
And I'll add:
Melisse - French - Santa Monica - Millbrook "Venison" Loin. You'd still have to call and confirm it'll be available this Friday (check under just "menu" } and/or still being offered at all:

Patina - French (?) - Downtown L.A. - Millbrook Farm Venison (different cut than above ?):

.
There are 1 or 2 places in Orange County, is that too far? You gave no geographic guidelines.

Scarpetta, Josie & Craft tweak their menus constantly depending on what they get from their farmers & suppliers - the ones online are only representative of what they might be serving. that's why it would be best for the OP to check with the individual establishments.

Hmmm. Josie's has always had venison on its menu and it was always fantastic. I can't imagine they'd discontinue it.

Thanks everyone for such great suggestions! I called virtally every place in town and was very happy to have Alison at Nic & Stef's offer to specially prepare venison for our celebration. We were treated wonderfully and had a great meal. As a back up plan, I talked to the butcher at Huntington Meats in the Farmer's Market at 3rd and Fairfax and they regularly carry rack of venison. We will definiately check out Chaya's special menu too. I wonder if they will offer the fair at a discount on savored.com?

I didn't see Chaya on Savored? Is it newly added? I do see Fraiche Santa Monica and Zengo (among others in and around LA).

Some of the items on Chaya's Venison menu include venison chili con carne with country bread at $21, a $22 venison burger served on sourdough, venison meatballs and spaghetti for $23 and roasted venison served with a blueberry black peppercorn sauce $42.
