Sweet Bologna In Essex, Passaic, Morris Counties?
Hey there gang,
My daughters love sweet bologna from PA's Amish Country. Some folks refer to this as Lebanon bologna but it is not the same. Lebanon bologna has a more peppered and sometimes spicy kick to it. Out in the Lancaster, PA supermarkets, sweet bologna can be purchased sliced or in smaller/thinner sticks. Doea anyone know where I can buy sweet bologna in the Essex, Morris, Passaic NJ county areas? I'm close to Fairfield but am willing to drive.
Thanks!

i agree with the suggestion to contact the dutch farmers market. I've lived in the same area as you most of my life, and i'd never heard of sweet bologna until a couple of weeks ago during a visit to Lancaster! And i've eaten more than my share of Lebanon bologna, so i DO know the difference. I've never seen it in a deli. You could, maybe, stop by Corrado's and ask if they'd get it in for you. They'll sometimes do little things like that, but I'm not sure. worth a try, though.

Have you tried the Pa Dutch farmer's markets? I think I saw sweet bologna at the meat purveyor at the one in Flemington. I know they are also great about special orders...(I was seeking something they did not regularly carry, but they cheerfully offered to get it for me for the following week, which they did as promised.) Give them a call to inquire, http://www.dutchfarmersmarket.com/

You might try Wunderbar brand. It's a sweet bologna and available at Shop-Rite and Stop & Shop. .

I've never seen it except on my visits to Lancaster Pa and vicinity. I remember them pronouncing it "BO-LONA", which was unique.
Your best bet is mail order:
