Weekend in Newport
Just got back, did a little research here before leaving for a nice Fri. night restaurant. Based on these boards, I made a res at Tallulahs. What a gem of a restaurant, had a fantastic dinner there. The only complaint I have is I think the wine list is a bit pricey, they could use a few more "moderately" priced wines. But, the food, is amazing, the presentation alone is worth going for. I wish I had pictures to share....I started with the fois gras app with figs and my DH has the wild mushrooms with frisee. Both very good. Then for mains, I had the wild mushroom risotto and DH has the chicken, which is done sous vide and probably one of the best chicken dishes he's ever had. The chicken was surrounded by baby brussel sprouts and butternut square. For dessert "desconstructed" tart tatin and ginger creme brulee, also very good.
Sat. we find a really cute bakery on Spring Street called Rosemary & Tyme, really good sandwiches/salads, reasonably priced. Just a couple of tables inside, but if you just need a quick snack/lunch, definitely worth a stop. Dinner that night was at the Moorings, an old standby of ours, food is good and lunch the next day at 22 Bowens Wharf.
