Special dinner Wednesday night at an intimate great food restaurant

My sister's birthday is Wednesday and I'm coming in to take her to dinner. She is rather discerning to say the least! I was looking for a great, possibly recent restaurant, with an intimate atmosphere and excellent food. Something like Quince but not as pricey -- or maybe A16 but a little more recent. Anyway...I would appreciate any feedback! I'm returning to my home town without any current gastro knowledge!!!!

Quince's spinoff Cotogna is kind of similar to A16.
