If you ever travel down toward Hammond, Indiana, perhaps on your way to or from Chicago, turn off on Indianapolis Boulevard and enjoy lunch at The Bread Basket.

They bake Stone Ground Wheat Bread every day. Salads and homemade dressings and the best sandwiches ever.

I think it is one of those "diamonds in the rough".

I don't know if they still do it but a few years ago they would sell a bag of the ends of loaves for next to nothing.If you like the ends like I do that was some good eating. Great with a bowl of soup at home.
