can mason wide-mouth canning jar be suitable with the lid from other brand, such as bormioli when that of later has the same diameter?
Are you boiling your canned products or doing freezer preserving? If you are heat preserving you have a lid and a ring. I assume you're talking about the metal lid not me the metal ring. Metal lids are not reusable as there is a rubber seal around the rim. I believe that if the new lid is for a jar of the same diameter and the same glass thickness as the brand specific jar is it will work. You will have to make sure, though, that, the rubber seal of any same sized lid will fit tightly around the mouth of the jar. That's the key thing -- that rubber seal needs to fit properly in order to create the vacuum in the jar that 's created during heat processing. So, if that seal fits properly and is the same diameter, I don't think it matters if you are brand specific. But you have to make sure so that you are canning safely and properly. :)
