Birthday Dinner Deliciousness?
So... looking for a good dinner restaurant for my birthday. I'll be celebrating on a weeknight with my husband. I don't get to go out as much as I'd like due to my infant at home. I'd like something with some atmosphere, and am open to a variety of cuisines. Hmm... But, I'm not feeling sushi at the minute, and my husband is not a fan of small plates. I love Italian, steakhouses, seafood, American, French, and Vietnamese.
I'd like to spend under $200 for dinner including drinks, tips, etc. Neither one of us is a big drinker, so we'll more than likely have one drink a piece. If we need to share an appetizer, that's fine.
A friend recommended Central, but it was somewhat disappointing to us both when we ate there. I took my husband to Bourbon Steak for dinner not long ago and really enjoyed it....particularly the Scotch flight with dessert. YUM. So, I'm thinking about Bourbon... but I think I may want to try something else.
Bourbon Steak is very good, although expensive since it's a steak house. We celebrated our anniversary this year at J&G Steakhouse and it was excellent! Really, really delicious food (best steak I've possibly ever had) and good service. You can also go upstairs before or after dinner to have a drink on the roof with one of the best views in the city. If you let them know it's your birthday they will take good care of you.
Bibianna also is another good option...really good Italian food in a chic environment. The seafood dishes I've had there (in particular a pasta dish with crab meat) are often very good.

Birch and Barley, too! I just had an amazing birthday dinner there last week. Has anyone eaten at New Heights lately? Because since Miss Andi mentioned a scotch flight she enjoyed, New Heights might be fun for beginning the meal with their gin tasting flight at the downstairs Gin Joint.

I just had a birthday celebration at Black Salt and was just completely thrilled with the food. Absolutely out-of-this-world. I was with my husband and in-laws. My father-in-law, who was also celebrating his birthday, also was blown away. They're not from DC and he said 'I think we should eat here every visit.' He enjoyed razor clams - not on the menu, but he saw them up front and asked to be surprised by the preparation. I enjoyed an amazing red curry. Strong dishes all around. I think if you're only having a drink you can definitely get out for under $200. Enjoy!
