Looking for a good breakfast spot between kids home in Lakeway and brothers home near the 290/71 intersection for a break from the family over the holidays. Haven't spent much time in Austin in years and no time in the Lakeway area. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Ate Cafe right off of 620 in Lakeway is a good breakfast spot. Also, just off Hwy 71 on Bee Cave Rd is Baguette et Chocolate, a good place to grab a pastry or an omelette or a crepe for breakfast. You can look at the menus on-line to see if they appeal to you. Both of them are order at the counter, they bring the food to you places. Both Waterloo and Maudies have breakfast, not the best, but decent if you want a sit down and order place.

Scrambled eggs were cold last time I went there. Person there explained it was difficult to keep eggs warm while preparing everything else (toast), etc.

I agree with that, since I had to figure out how to do that at home when I cook breakfast. But if I can figure it out, a restaurant should be able to.
