Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in New Jersey

Family group lunch, day after Thanksgiving, in greater Wayne area?

I'm not from the area, but need to find a place to accommodate about 15 ppl (with kids) for a lunch. Somewhere with a private room, or a hotel buffet or something like that? Somewhere we can all fit, eat lunch, relax and hang out for a few hours...?

  1. Do you want a Thanksgiving menu, or something completely different? Personally, I'd make a reservation at Chengdu 23 for some fantastic authentic Szechuan food! While they don't have a private room, they do have a few huge tables and are very accommodating in general. The non-adventurous types can eat 'regular' Chinese food while the others in your party can eat some truly interesting dishes. http://chengdu23.us

The "Wayne area" is sorely lacking in decent restaurants, but that's one standout. Let us know a few more particulars (types of food, budget, etc) and maybe we can offer up some other ideas.

Thanks Curiz, not a Thanksgiving menu, but we are a mixed group with some kids. I'd say budget in the $30/person range? Open to all food, but somewhere we can kind of "camp out" for the afternoon...

Chendu23 is an excellent choice...it definitely fits your criteria for ethnic and price range. Since it's in very close proximity to Willowbrook Mall (think Black Friday), the area may be jammed and "camping out" may not be an option that day. There a very cool restaurant on Totowa Road near the Passaic County Golf Course called The Barnyard that has a very lovely private area....great burgers, sliced steak sandwiches, Italian entrees, always reliable...friendly service. Just call ahead and tell them what you need..they are wonderful www.barnyardandcarriagehouse.com

If you enjoy a very good Italian, Aldo's Cucina on Hamburg Turnpike is excellent....great, salads, pastas and entrees....plus wonderful cappucino, too. Terrific service, too. BYOB.
