NEW Cracker Barrel to open on Rt9 / Rt37 Toms River

People have to realize this is the Toms River equivalent of Thomas Keller opening a spot in town.

Not family with TR at all, but isn't there a guy that won in an episode on Foodnetwork "Chopped" who owns a restaurant there?

I believe the previous owner of Bistro 44 had won on Chopped. The restaurant is still open,but I have not been there since it changed hands.

Yes Eric Chef Erik Weatherspool is no longer at Bistro 44 it certainly was the best restaurant in TR....

Did you ever wonder why that is? We certainly live in a pretty populated area, plus we get the shore traffic...are the demographics wrong? Too old? Too poor?

I think its the location......TR is in the triangle of New York, Philly, & AC, seasonal crowds on the shore only 5 months out of the year, an over abundance of +55 retirement communities...and the rest commuters traveling 1 1/2 hours RT on average to work.
Lets add in the powers to be building every fast food restaurant in creation along our main roads dotted with 24hr WAWAS which now offer all kinds of hot foods at low prices all pushing the mom & pop places off the map.....and lets face it around here 9PM is nite nite time downtown main Street TR is a ghost town at night.... if you want Redbank, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Freehold type eateries you have to travel to them....

Unless something has changed, this rumor was denied by Cracker Barrel back in February.

We have been waiting for a Cracker Barrel down here. We were just at the Shop Rite today and wondering what was going there. Figured it would be a chain, they are the only things that seem to be popular. I was kind of hoping for a Joe's Crab Shack though. Well all the seniors will be thriled.
