3 nights in Chicago... already booked at MK and Boka, recommendations for 3rd night?

Hi everyone! :)

I'm surprising my fiance with a trip to Chicago next month for his birthday. We'll be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Monday morning, and staying at the Sofitel (on East Chesnut).

I've already booked at MK and Boka, and would love a recommendation for our 3rd dinner, and fun places for breakfast and lunch in the Magnificent Mile area.

Thanks, in advance!

Mia Francesca on N. Clark has the best Italian food i've had in Chicago. it's a 20 minute ride from the magnificent Mile but for me , good to get away from the business crowd. Japonais in Chicago was really good also for modern japanese food, I cant say same for Japonais in New York , it was bad.

If you have the time and the patience to make reservations, I would highly recommend Schwa. It would also be a cab ride, but more than worth it.

Schwa is a great recommendation, but only if you are willing to take the chance on them canceling your reservation at the last minute. It has happened. More than once.

A fun place for Saturday lunch near Mag Mile might be Purple Pig, after breakfast at Xoco (note that it's counter service/takeout only, and breakfast ends at 10am).

For Sunday brunch, I'd venture outside of Mag Mile and go to the Publican. They take reservations, too.

Thanks! :) We'll be arriving late in the afternoon on Friday, so I guess Topolobampo for lunch is out. We won't have a car, but are willing to cab!

This trip was a spur of the moment idea of mine, so sadly I was unable to get reservations at Alinea, but will return one day just to eat there.

          How's Tru?

There are many posts on this already on the board, but judging from your selections so far I gather you are not looking for "fine dining" as it were.

Given that assessment I'd strongly suggest a Bayless spot for lunch (Topolobampo) or breakfast/brunch (Frontera or Xoco.) I'd also consider checking out Cafe Spiaggia for some top quality Italian at lunch in the Mag Mile.

For your final dinner if you wanted to go more upscale I'd suggest Bonsoiree, Naha, or Blackbird while a cheaper option could be Avec.

Topolobampo only serves lunch Tuesday through Friday, so may not be an option dependent upon the OP's arrival time.

Note that all the Bayless spots are closed Sundays and Mondays, so the only days to visit any of them would be on Friday or Saturday.
