Special night out... with kids... near Chevy Chase or DC

Hello,

I would like to buy a gift certificate for my family members who live in Chevy Chase; they deserve a nice meal out, but I don't want to burden them with having to get a sitter. Does anyone have recommendations for a fairly nice meal that could include an infant (always quiet as long as she's being fed; I can already tell that she's going to be a future chowhounder!), and a 4 year old. I know not to expect the Ritz with kids in tow, but I also don't want to send them to a family-themed restaurant that doesn't value food above all. Any recommendations?

Lia's in Friendship Heights is also great and when I lived near by, families were always there.

I agree with Lia's as well. It's boisterous, but they can get some high-end food at reasonable prices. Cafe Deluxe would work, too - they could go to Bethesda or the Cathedral location.

2 Amys Pizza is very family friendly, convenient to Chevy Chase, and has very good small plates and neapolitan pizza. http://www.washingtonian.com/restaurantreviews/2913.html
