Lunch at Frankie's 457 in Brooklyn
Took a day trip down to my old stomping grounds on Wednesday and stopped in to Frankie's 457 on Court St. in Brooklyn. I had heard about it in Sam Sifton's finale food review. I went with one other friend and we sat at the bar. Ordered two German Pilsners (no domestic beers) and the antipasto plate. Four or five different meets, sliced see thru thin a few olives, some marinated mushrooms and broccoli rabe and some cheese. Basically a few nibbles for each before the entree. Very nice. perfect for two to share. They also presented us with bread and some of their homemade olive oil for dipping.
For our entrees, I had the homemade Papardelle with braised lamb, tomato, tarragon and live oil and my buddy had the pork braciola marinara. Let me first say that the portions were perfect for lunch. we both shared some of ours and thank goodness. The pork braciola was so flavorful and tender. The sauce was perfect. Truly one of the best marinara sauces I've tasted. Bursting with tomato flavor, but lacking the usual acidity. My lamb was absolutely, positively one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant this year. Absolutely delicious. The sauce was out of this world and in no way overpowered the lamb. It also clung well to the ever so light pasta. We passed on dessert, but we were given recommendations from another customer.
The service was impeccable and the friendly. The bartender chatted with us the entire time and was very quick to answer any questions. The place was spotless and quaint, but we were told they do get busy for dinner. It had a decent lunch crowd, but it was also a rainy miserable day, so that probably cut the numbers down. I highly recommend this to anyone passing through or living in Brooklyn.

Frankies 457 Spuntino
457 Court St, Brooklyn, NY 11231
My wife and I had lunch there just a couple of days ago and could not agree more with your assessment. We had been there maybe twice a few months ago, liked it then, and decided on a whim to have lunch there on a weekday.
Maureen had the cheese assortment (she is crazy for cheese), and I had the BLT. We split a chicken liver crostini to start, and we had a bottle of Italian Chardonnay. We were at the bar. where I enjoyed watching the choreographed food ballet that is constant in the tight spaces behind the counter.
The bartender our day was Jessica, who not only kept up with a full bar, but carried on several different conversations, all the time with a friendly., smiling demeanor. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, from the food to the ambiance and the overall dining experience. Their BLT has to be among the top three or so in the entire city.
So, at the risk of making the place even busier, I highly recommend Frankie's 457 for a delightful, leisurely, tasty meal.
