Roasted Bone Marrow
I recently tried bone marrow for my first time and really liked it; I was curious if anybody knew anywhere in Chicago that sells bone marrow to take home to cook (i.e. not a restaurant, but a grocery store or butcher or what not). Also, anybody know of a good roasted bone marrow recipe? Thanks.

Butcher & Larder tends to have marrow bones available (though I'm sure they go fast). Or you can just buy a bone-in beef shank like I did and ask them to cut the roast in half (ie. length-wise along the bone) so that you can get to the delicious marrow once it's done cooking (they will tie the roast back together so it can cook more easily, too).

re: Gonzo70
Update: Well let's just say that Purple Pig is not going to be losing my business any time soon when I am craving bone marrow. My version did not turn out nearly as well. I think I will stick with ordering it at restaurants for the time being! Not only was the taste not so good, my wife was put off by the smell and sprayed the entire condo with fabric freshener spray. Even the cat left the kitchen while I was trying the marrow. At least I have reservations at The Bristol next month, so can get my bone marrow fix then!
