Recs for dinner near Camelback Inn?

Hello AZ Chowhounders,

My partner and I will be staying at the Camelback Inn for one night next week. I grew up in Phoenix but have lived in CA for 10 years so am not quite current on local, good restaurants. I would like for us to have dinner close by the hotel if possible so as to have a moderately-priced cab ride. BLT Steak looks too pricey although I know there is a lot of love for that place.

I already know where in the Valley to get excellent Mexican food and we will have loaded up on plenty of that for a week!

We would like to spend no more than $100, which is including a few drinks, and prefer fish, good burgers, vegetable dishes, or pastas.

I am the chowhound in the duo and my mate's priorities are eating good, decent-priced food. Nothing fancy! In other words, if Oregano's were closer, we would go there.

Cheers and Thanks in advance.

I know that pizza wasn't on your list above, but Pomo Pizzeria is reasonable near to your hotel (just shy of 3 miles away), and IMO, does a very good job with Neapolitan-style pies. If my memory is accurate, their wines by-the-glass are a little on the pricey side (most are $10+), so you might have to limit yourselves to 2 glasses apiece (or maybe 5 total) if you want to keep the total tab, with tax and tip, south of the 100-dollar mark.

The Grind is a bit farther away, but their focus on burgers cooked in a coal-fired oven and their classic cocktail menu would seem to be right on target, given what it seems you are looking for.

      Hey globocity..
I enjoy Lon's at the Hermosa for brunch/lunch or dinner..gorgeous patio.
Have drinks and app's at T. Cooks at the Royal Palms resort...Dwight at the piano bar is outstanding and the ambiance, drinks and a couple of app's are a perfect night out.
Durant's downtown is one of my fave's...old school at its best...chilled relish tray and they make one hell of a burger..mostly a steak and baked potato place.
Carolina's is one of my fave's for Mex along with Carlos O'Briens..great happy hour and they don't skimp on the cheese...
Four Peaks brewery has some decent food and beer.
PHX board is awesome and sure you'll get some great ideas.
