Trader Joes in Clarendon?

I think I need to get out more. My friend just told me TJ's opened today across from the Clarendon metro. Can anyone confirm? I live at Courthouse and haven't noticed a thing, how embarrassing.

    1. Yep, it opened today! I went a few hours ago.

      1. Does anyone know if they have parking? It's on the way home for my sister from her downtown job but would only work if parking was available.

I don't know how it turned out, but I know that parking was an issue when it came to getting the store open. The overimplified version is that Trader Joe's wanted to provide free parking and whoever runs the neighborhood didn't. Whole Foods still has a free parking lot but they watch it very carefully, and many stores validate parking in the garages, but it's not as convenient as coming out of the store with a couple of bags of groceries and walking a block or two to your car.

Yes. There's underground parking in the building. Entrance on Garfield. Ninety minutes free with Trader Joe's validation.

Glad it worked out that way. I pretty much stopped wandering about in Clarendon when that parking lot on Highland St. for the Department of Welfare or something like that which used to be free evenings and weekends started charging for parking. I can't always find something at Whole Foods that I want to buy (well, that I actually WILL buy) but I can always find something at TJs to cover the validation.

              Thanks for the info.

We found it, so you won't have to look for it like I did (put a dime in a parking meter and walked to the store to find out where the free parking is).

The entrance to the parking garage for Trader Joe's new Clarendon store is on N. Garfield St. between 11th St. and Clarendon Blvd. There's a lot of construction in that area, and a lot of one way and no-thru streets so how you actually get there might change from day to day. There's an elevator in the garage that goes right up to the store. You get your parking ticket validated at the Customer Service desk near the cash registers.

It's a good looking Trader Joe's and feels bigger than the Bailey's Crossroads or Pimmit Hills stores where I usually shop.

            2. I bought some Italian Truffle cheese there and it was 1/2 the price of truffle cheese at Whole Foods and had a much cleaner cheese flavor than the product from them, which really let the truffle taste come through.

TJ's once again is the best choice for cheese and the price is so mcuh better.
