Poe's Chester Square Pub and Rattlesnake- Updates?

opinionatedchef Nov 18, 2011 12:09 AM

Brian Poe, the talented chef at Rattlesnake, has a new Mass. Ave. place that was slated to open this fall. Anyone have an update on it? And has anyone recently eaten at Rattlesnake? Have been meaning to get there for quite a while, inspired by Ruth Tobias' blog raves.

I can see the Rattlesnake from my office window (sort of) yet have not been there for like 10 years.

I will go soon for lunch and report back.

I think they're still waiting on paperwork. No work has been done in there.

I know he's a really talented chef, but it's hard to take him seriously in the Rattlesnake (I realize this isn't fair). The sticky floors, disgusting bathrooms, and a crowd that is clearly not there for the food don't help his cause. I'm hopeful the new spot has a very different feel.

Had a very good lunch at the Rattlesnake a few months back. Different types of tacos all around, ranging from ok to excellent. Can't really remember specifics, but what I do remember vividly was the lingering beer stench. Like MKFisher says, it's hard to take the food seriously or want to go, even though it's very close to my office, with that environment. Not particularly relaxing.
