Thanksgiving Restaurant for a Group of Vegetarians & Carnivores

sherpa50 Nov 17, 2011 04:56 PM

For the first time ever my family is going to a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner. There will be only two turkey eaters & the other five people are vegetarians (not vegans). I'm thinking maybe a nice hotel buffet would be best so the veggies can enjoy some Thanksgiving food rather than having to make do with pasta which we eat all the time at home. We will be coming from Encino but are willing to schlep somewhat, moderately priced or slightly above is fine - there are teens but no little kids. Thanks for your help.

Not sure what moderately priced means to you all, but I do know that Fogo De Chao in Beverly Hills is doing a special Thanksgiving day menu that includes turkey (as well as all their usual meat selections). They have a wonderful salad bar for the non turkey/meat eaters. The price for the turkey and all their usual meats plus the salad bar is $58.50 pp and if you get the salad bar only it's $28.50 pp.

Our Thanksgiving dinner at Scarpetta Beverly Hills was wonderful, I had the ROASTED DUCK BREAST with organic medjool date puree, smoked shelling beans, tuscan kale, & fuji apple and it was oh so tender and some of the best duck I've had. Off the vegetarian menu my son had their very nice CREAMY POLENTA with fricassee of truffled mushrooms (the mushrooms are served on the side so you mix them in yourself) and their FARFALLE with roasted garlic, mushrooms & parmigiano, a great pasta dish indeed. Sticky pudding and a nice cheese plate ended the holiday evening. Wonderful service in their beautiful room. Highly recommended.

Cafe Del Rey (a beautiful restaurant in Marina del Rey with lovely views of the boats in the marina) is a white-tablecloth kind of place that i've enjoyed in the past.
they are offering a 3 course thanksgiving dinner for $55/pp
from what i remember, 3 of the 5 starters they are offering are vegetarian
and one of the entrees is vegetarian (a beet risotto with asparagus, grape tomatoes, artichokes and i can't-remember-what-else).
can't remember the desserts at the moment, but i'd bet that most are vegetarian.

        hope this helps
