One Dinner in Salt Lake City with wife

Staying Downtown at the Radisson Hotel. Looking for something that is local-no chains, great food and wine, nice atmosphere.

  1. A few places instantly come to mind:

Cucina Toscana - upscale Italian, the proprietor is considered among the very best restaurateurs in town

Bambara - in the Hotel Monaco, New American, one of the nicer rooms downtown. Been through some chef changes but the current guy has been there for about 3 years.

Fleming's - in the Gateway, yes, it's a chain, but not a huge one. If you've never been it's worth a visit. Their wine program stands out and the food is really good. They know what they are doing with steaks and the sides are both yummy and generous.

Your hotel is convenient to the light rail and you are in the free fare zone. All kinds of places (including the above) within walking distance of stops within the zone. Weather permitting, Fleming's would be at the top of my list. The Gateway is SLC's upscale outdoor mall... plenty of shops and people watching while you build up an appetite for dinner.
