Heavy Lunch - Route 1 Southern Maine

My husband and I are taking a day trip to Maine next Saturday and we're taking route 1 up to Kennebunkport. I'm looking for a place for a heavy-ish lunch (can double as dinner too). I haven't been to there in 5 or 6 years so I don't know what's good anymore. We like any type of food, but since we're in Maine seafood would be preferred.. price doesn't really matter. Any recs for me would be great.

Ugh, my husband just said he wants me to take him to Freeport at some point too..Any lunch recommendations for there either? I'll choose a couple of places and see where we end up I guess!

Ok guys, how about recs for a casual lobster/steamer lunch? The husband and sister want lobster and steamers..I know a lot of places are closed.

Broad Arrow is a great idea. Also in Freeport, Azure Cafe serves lunch til 3ish and a light lunch til 4. South of Freeport, in Falmouth, the Falmouth Sea Grill is on the water. Haven't been since they redid the place, but was excellent in the past. Both have websites with their lunch menus and hours.

You'll have to check the hours to make sure that places are serving if you plan on a 3-5 pm meal.

A few K-port "upscale" places that emphasize seafood are Pier 77, On The Marsh, and Hurricane. More casual/less seafood but excellent is Bandaloop.

In Kennebunk (not K-port) is Local 50.

If you want to stop sooner on your way north I recommend MC Perkins Cove, Ogunquit.

Freeport:

My standard rec is Broad Arrow Tavern, inside the Harraseeket Inn. Serves all day from 11am to 10;30pm. Huge varied menu...burgers/pizzas to grilled meats, fish and seafood. Local sourcing. Casual and fun room.

Hard as it is to believe, there is a good place for Lobster etc in Kittery: http://www.robertsmainegrill.com/ (or for an even more informal lunch, try Bob's Clam Hut across the street). Alissons Restaurant in Kennebunkport is also good: http://www.alissons.com/
