Cakes near Courthouse metro in Arlington?

My office is moving from Alexandria to Arlington. At least once a month, we get at least one cake from Alexandria Pastry (Bradlee Center) to celebrate something or other. Where should I look in our new location for something comparable?

I just asked one of the young male analysts who lives nearby this question and he suggested Safeway. Figure this is a much better crowd...

pastries by randolph is not "near" courthouse metro -- though it is a superior product to safeway -- by far. so is heidelberg bakery, but it too is not close to metro. both are probably a 7-12 minute car trip each way in non-rush hour.

i've never been, but people like cafe assorti, near court house. you might check them out.

the only other place that i can think of is bayou bakery -- right there next to the court house complex. talk to chef guas.

you might call arlington county's board office and find out where they get their cakes for employee parties.

It's not within walking distance from the Metro, but it is a short drive if you have a car (2.2 miles/9 minutes according to Google Maps). Not everyone who works near a Metro stop will use Metro to get there (I work across the street from a Metro stop, and I would estimate that half of my coworkers - the ones who don't live where it is convenient to take Metro - drive to work), so this may be an option.

    2. Bakeshop which is a stop down in Clarendon does cakes as well. There is a Whole Foods there as well.

BakeshopVA makes wonderful cakes! I highly second this option.

      2. Thanks, we will check them out over time. BTW, i went to Bayou today and had a tasty grilled pimento cheese sandwich.
