Substitue for Walnuts?

I'm making an apple spice bundt cake for Thanksgiving that looks absolutely delicious and calls for walnuts in streusel that goes in the middle but I'm allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. Anything I can substitute with or should I just leave them out or scrap the streusel part all together? (It's in this month's Cooking Light if anyone has it lying around!)

    Just omit the nuts all together and make your crumbly streusel topping with butter, flour and white sugar.

      For a streusel I would leave them out altogether, but for other recipes that call for nuts on top (decorative) I often use oatmeal. We have nut allergies in our family too.

        how about pumpkin seeds?

          All great ideas!! I've been buying raw pumpkin seeds and roasting them (yum!) and I eat oats all the time so maybe a combination of the two with the oats toasted a bit too!!

            we have nut allergies too. try not too finely crushed pretzels.
