Wanted: Recommendations for Spiral Slicer / Benriner - for making "spaghetti strands from veggies"

Well the title says it all. I'm defintely interested in getting one of these and reviewed the choices on Amazon. But I would really appreciate your thoughts!

Most of the time, my intention would be for use with some kind of squash or zucchini. We don't eat too much in the way of starchy veggies as we're mostly "Paleo". But I think that having one of these would be a pretty cool addition to the kitchen.

I'm probably looking to keep my cost to $50 or less, since it's a specialty thing and I'm not going to use it all the time. Please feel free to share all applicable details and rationales! The good and the bad - THANKS!

Jeff

Thanks Chemical. Yeah I first searched to see what was already in the archive and there are loads of reviews on Amazon for the stuff that they carry. There seems to be a few decent options including the ones from World Kitchen and Benriner.

My gut instinct is to get on of the Benriner models since they seem to be made in Japan. But I'm still hoping to hear from people who have one of these things to provide their feedback. I saw one of these used on iron chef the other night and it got me thinking ...

Yeah, Benrier is definitely the standard. Sorry I cannot help more, but hopefully, you may get more responses after the post has been bumped up :)
