Admiral Codrington (London)
As the new wave of decent burger joints jostle for position with the chowhound burgerati...I feel I must make it my mission to sample some more of the current best-in-show on my December jaunt to the city.
The only real burger I have managed to get a hold off in the past is the Hawksmoor offering....and it really blew my socks off. I was looking forward to a rerun this visit....but think I will have to venture further afield and see what's out there. The Admiral Codrington seems to be making the shortlist on all the burger blogs, so will likely get a try.
In addition to any burger reviews, I would love to know if anyone has tried their Mac Cheese? I saw a brief pic and review on a burger site....and it looks amazing. http://www.hamburger-me.com/2011/10/a... (towards bottom of page).

I know it's just me, but I wish places would charge less for a burger and make them about half the size they do. Those huge, towering burgers seem easier for men to chow down (sorry) than they are for women. The Mac Cheese does look scrumptious.
Admiral Cod has good pub food across the board and I've enjoyed their burger on many occasions. It used to be a fantastic restaurant, then it went very downhill, but I am happy to say the food is once again at a high standard. The dining room is more restaurant than pub, but there is a small proper pub when you enter. It's a very popular haunt of the American investment banker and Sloaney Ranger types -- its one of the few pubs where you can almost guarantee that someone is smoking a cigar outside.
They also have an excellent Sunday roast, and sometimes will sell O'Shea steaks (on a special menu). It's the best pub food in the area, though I also really like the Enterprise on Walton.
