21st birthday in DC, likes Sake

My brother is turning 21 in December, our parents live in DC while we live in Northern and Southern California. I know he likes Sake, but that's about it for alcohol. I was thinking a Japanese restaurant would be fun. Something close off the green line would be best, but any place you can get to via metro would be fantastic.

You might take a look at Kushi, on K Street between 4th and 5th Streets. It's a short walk from the Green Line at Mt. Vernon Square.

Or Sei on 7th very near the Archives/Navy Memorial Stop.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of Kushi (but I also seem to be the only person who doesn't like it). I do like Sei quite a bit though.

Also Sushi Taro is supposed to be very good (I haven't been but my friends love it).

I think Kushi has a really good vibe for a 21st birthday party - and they have several different types of sake on the menu, as I recall. I think it would work really well for this occasion.

I like Kushi for its "something for everyone" menu that isn't a Clyde's sort of something for everyone. Sushi eats can enjoy their sushi (which is quite good) but the more unadventurous can get a filet if they need. The pork belly is awesome, as is the green tea ice cream.
