following posters broken?

rose water Nov 16, 2011 02:26 PM

apologies if this has already been raised here, but i've been trying to follow a few chowhound posters in the past couple days (? weeks?) and it won't stick. i'll go to their profile, click on the "follow" button, and nothing will happen. using chrome on different pc's in case that helps.

Following posters is working correctly "under the hood", but the button doesn't seem to be changing its appearance when it's clicked. We'll look into getting this to appear properly soon.

In the mean time, as a workaround: after clicking the "+ Follow" button, refresh the page. If it now says "- Follow" instead, you'll know that the follow has gone through.

How do you UNfollow someone? I've tried that, but it didn't work...

it's not very obvious, but right where it says "XXX's profile" it says "-follow," in the same color and font as where it says "XXX's profile" (hence not being obvious). you need to use the same work around to unfollow someone as described above by engineering.

I just tried it, and it worked. I clicked '- follow' on the poster's profile page and it didn't look like it did anything, but when I refreshed it had changed back to '+ follow' and the poster's avatar wasn't in the 'people I'm reading' list on my profile page.

Wow this is not intuitive. I've been unfollowing people because I don't know the difference. The "-Follow" might be something computer programmers relate to but it isn't an everyday way of thinking. I'd change it to "UnFollow"
