A Greek Woman I met told me this was the best...is it worth the drive from SFV, or is Alexis Greek or Great Greek just as good?

I haven't been to Alexis Greek, but I have been to Great Greek and Tony's. I think Tony's has better food, and is a very different atmosphere. Great Greek has the dancing and the atmosphere (such as it is) seems to be more of a priority than the food. Tony's has good (though not great) food, and is a bit of a scene since it's a celeb spot, but has a lovely outdoor patio and a nice inside space with fireplace. I'd rank Tony's higher in all categories, but if your criteria for making the drive is great Greek food, wait until the gas prices go down!

I've always loved Taverna Tony's. I've always had delicious food there and it's a casual atmosphere, even with the celebs.

Make it a day in Malibu and an early dinner - you'll have a tan and be well fed.

When we lived in Malibu we went to Tony's a lot and thought it was excellent. Not familiar with the other two. Make reservations. They are very crowded. Nice patio dining, too. If indoors, don't sit near the live music.... Good food and service.

Seems it has been awhile since Tony's has been mentioned; definitely not a place worth forgetting.

I visited Tony's mid-Dec and I am already craving it again. The offerings that are good are very good, and those that are ok, are just that. A relaxed meal on the outdoor may just be a perfect place to relax and enjoy some delicious morsels.

Without a doubt, try the 'baby octopus' - it was the biggest baby octopus I ever tried. In fact, I don't care for baby octopus but I am forever in search of the perfect octopus; I was therefore convinced to try it. Either every other place I tried to date is serving the babies as ‘grilled octopus’ without letting us know or Tony is really not serving the babies. Size aside, the tender slices were perfect.

I also enjoyed the pita, a generous helping. As well, my favorites included tabouli, tzatziki and spanakopita. The tabouli included scallions / spring onions – Nice. I actually ordered the Vegetarian Paradise for lunch. My oh my, more than enough for two (after the ‘baby octopus’). The grilled vegetables were ok, good but not special; same for the tiropita.

Note: It’s not only me - Honorable mention was given with regards to the octopus

I was at Taverna Tony for brunch on a Sunday last month and had a great meal. Really enjoyed the grilled octopus and sitting on the patio, although the heaters were a needed and welcome friend that day. Also had the best bloody mary -- well, two of them actually! -- that I've had in a long time. Minor celeb sighting that day.

The food there is good, the only thing I have against it, is it is the only place that I have ever been that will carge for a coke refill and they dont tell you till you see the bill, kind of cheap considering the price of the food IMHO.
