ISO fantastic restaurant in north / NE area of Toronto

Hello all, I've been tasked with finding a fabulous restaurant in the north / NE part of the city that is elegant, trendy and prepares traditional fare (e.g., steaks) superbly. This would be for a business dinner - so quiet surroundings preferred.

Auberge du Pommier has been nixed - darn.

Any suggestions? Area would be east of Yonge, west of Don Mills, south of Steeles, north of Lawrence.

Thanks so much!

  1. I can't think of any restaurant in the Greater Toronto Area that would be fabulous, quiet, elegant, trendy and prepare traditional fare (e.g., steaks) superbly, so I'll suggest some decent restaurants that might fit a few of your criteria.

Terra might work for something elegant that's further north, but also it's north of Steeles.

Octagon might work for traditional steak in a quiet restaurant, but the atmosphere would be the opposite of trendy. Very old school steakhouse atmosphere.

If you're willing to head a kilometre south of Lawrence, Centro and North 44 might work for the north part of the city, both are elegant, and relatively quiet, and serve plenty of business dinners. They both have a contemporary atmosphere, which might fit your description of "trendy".

Coppi has been revamped recently, and might also work. Fairly elegant, contemporary atmosphere serving some traditional and some less traditional Italian food, and probably at least one type of steak.

    1. Pretty narrow location window

North 44 is just south of Lawrence
      O&B Cafe at Bayview Village
Terra is just north of Steeles on Yonge (well closer to 407)

      1. I wouldn't describe it as 'fabulous' - but certainly competent.
Wildfire, on Yonge south of Hogg's Hollow.
        Steaks are excellent.

Another might be Prince Hotel - used to go there for business lunches - but have never been for dinner. But at least it's in the area!

        1. Thanks everyone for your suggestions - I think Terra might be worth a try.

I would recommend Terra out of everywhere that was listed.

          2. Just a little south of where you want to be but Fabbrica would be an option too. They have an area that's separate from the rest of the dining area that would give you some privacy as well. I know it's not a favorite on this board but ive been about 10 times and have never had a bad experience. I'd certainly much rather eat there than centro or wildfire. Not cheap but the food is well executed. Pizzas are excellent, pastas are good to excellent and mains are well executed as well. Plus their pear sorbet is amazing.
