Large Group Dinner Restaurant - 180 people
Hello,
I am currently working with an organization and we were hoping to mix it up for an event and attend a respectable restaurant instead of a hall or something. We are looking for a a venue for a pretty large group (about 180 people).
I often browse the site for restaurant recommendations and love the reviews.
If it helps, the budget is about $20-25 per person including tax and gratuities.
We are an adventurous group looking for any suggestions that can fit that many people.
EDIT: Toronto, Downtown or North York/Vaughan area

If quality of food doesn't have to be fantastic then perhaps you should consider buffets. A Chinese, Indian or Mediterranean place. I sometimes like to go to Jerusalem in North York. The food is ok, there are always some hits and misses, but people are usually entertained by the belly dancers if not the meal.

Maybe Chinatown East, because for sure the Spadina crowd would just laugh and shake their heads. I'm actually thinking Pearl Court, which has a large second floor that they only open for the Sunday dim sum crowd. Food there can be pretty decent, you'd probably want to meet with them and plan out a set menu.

re: childofthestorm
I agree with a Chinese Restaurant on a set menu. With a set menu you do get good quality and selection without risking any upset.. I realize that getting the whole group together is much more important than how gourmet the meal is and that it will be a great time for everyone so maybe some others on the board could suggest a suitable place that isnt chinese and isnt an OB restaurant.

so you are looking for food (and drink) for $15-$20 before tax and autgrat of 15%-18%? and on a friday night?
your best bet is probably for a large asian restaurant that is primarily a lunch spot and may want to open for dinner for your group. doing the quick math...$2700-$3000 may be enough incentive for an operator but i might worry about the quality or quantity of food you may be getting especially if your budget is supposed to included beverages or liquor

re: ingloriouseater
I hope ingloriouseater is right and this option exists for you. Just to put things in perspective renting a hall, and that's it, would cost you approx. $2000. You could always get Subway subs or Pickle Barrel to do sandwiches for $10 a head. Your guests will wish you just gave them an envelope with $20 rather than you show how much you cared about them.
