Restaurant recomendations in SF

Hi,

I are going to San Francisco (staying in Nob Hill) on Friday and Saturday night and need a few restaurant recommendations. I do not want to break the bank, ie places like Gary Danko and the like are not viable options. We are from New York, know good food, and don't want to get caught in the tourist trap. If you have any suggestions for places please let me know. We are not looking for anything location specific but within a 25 minute walk would be great.

Thanks in advance

I recommend Nob Hill Grille. They have a good variety of dishes that are well-executed and generously portioned. You could prob walk from Huntington, Mark Hopkins & others in about 25 mins. Cable car stops 1 block away, if u want that "experience." From the Nob Hill Grille web site: "For guests that are away from home and desire a night off from the San Francisco restaurant 'scene,' we offer a friendlier home-style environment..."

You could always take the California cable car down to Perbacco for very good Cal-Italian food. (think Scarpetta). Maybe walk over to Shield's for a martini or two after supper before taking the California back to Nob Hill.
