We have been to Dereks 3 times and have always enjoyed it.

Been to some of the dives like New Pass and Salty Dog.
Always enjoy cocktails and the view at Marina Jacks.
Been to Selva, Zoria, Cork/Bottle shop (which I understand is now closed),
Enjoy chilling at the Dry Dock.
Done most of Anna Maria Island restuarants several times.
So we are now am looking for reccs for some places we have not tried.
Bijou, Duvals lots of negative reviews around.
Columbia and Cafe Europe - not interested.
So besides Derek's and Maison Blanche here are where we are thinking of going and would like a little feedback

Saturday night we enjoyed a new restaurant called Indigenous, the emphasis being seasonal and fresh products. The menu is a little limited, but our meal was excellent. For starter, we had the 3 boys farm baby greens and the parmesan beignets, which melted in your mouth. We both had a fish special, my being flounder and my husband a tuna. It is located in Towles Court. It the same location as the old Canvas Cafe and also the same chef. The Canvas Cafe had been one of our favorites, so I an glad to see the location and chef back in business.
Last night we also ate at Indigenous and it was excellent. We also love Duvals
(now on Main St.). The service needs touching up, but he food at Duvals is extremely good. Michaels on East is another excellent choice. The Table just reopened but have not heard any comments, but will give it a try next week.
Just had dinner at the new Duvals on Main Street. E erything was great. We split the calamari app and it was very tender and just lightly breaded. It came with three sauces, a chipolte mayo, regular cocktail and a Dijon mustard sauce. I preferred the chipolte, then the Dijon. Next time I will ask for just the chipolte. My husband had the hake special and I had salmon.. Both were very fresh and excellent. We also had small salads instead of the veg and they were better than average - a nice combo of ingredients, not too much dressing. For side, I had the risotto and my husband had the red potato mashed. The risotto was good, but not as good as Selva's. The potatoes were tasty. We shared a bread pudding for desert - heavenly! Service was excellent and the place was busy. In all, a very good meal.
BTW, the old Duvals is now closed. Cece said she just couldn 't handle the two locations.

So glad to hear positive replies to the new Duvals. I feel (owner) Wes is one of the best seafood chef's in Florida. He has a way with fish that most restaurants (expensive or not) cannot come close. Last week his red snapper was the best I ever had, and his salmon is always a winner. His calamari is the best in Sarasota and as mentioned above,he gives you 3-choices of sauces. Wes & Ceci -- good luck in your new space, keep up the good work on your food, and just want to tell you that your new space looks absolutely beautiful....
