Inexpensive graduation dinner?

I am graduating next month (December) with a Bachelor's degree from a local college.

Anyone know of a good place for a group of 6-8 of us to have a nice dinner after my last final exam? Nothing too super fancy, nothing expensive.. parents do not have loads of money to spend since 3 out of their 4 kids are in college, dad is in college, and 1 more kid going to college next year.

I really love Maggianos.. been there 100 times and am considering going there, but I also wanted to try something new. We do not need or want a private room.

My brothers and sister are very picky eaters, so Italian or Mediterranean food is a must. Thanks so much

How about the Brookline Family Restaurant in Brookline Village? You said Mediterranean, which made me think of it. It's not expensive, the food is delicious and they have ordinary pasta for the fussy eaters and other delicious Turkish dishes. It's cozy and we love the place. They can accomodate 8 people easily and take reservations. Check out their menu on-line.

Strip T's in Watertown has no atmosphere but great food, friendly people, and a range including mediterranean and hip. Also definitely frugal.

I just want to add that location doesn't really matter. Boston or 20-30 miles north of Boston is fine. So if you know of a good place outside of Boston please let me know! Thanks for your help!!

I do know Maggiano's has a ton of private rooms downstairs (that's where they have our holiday lunch for work every year). That being said, the food there is pretty awful in my opinion. In terms of inexpensive Italian in that general neighborhood, I'd suggest Picco on Tremont in the South End. Good simple menu that should please everyone while having some of the best pizza in the city.
