In talking with the owner a few weeks back at Borgo I got the impression he was tired of doing the fine dining thing. And seeing him front-of-house at Borgo, smiling and happy which he never was in the kitchen at Capo, kind of confirms it for me.
Not really 100% sure what did in Nectar but I’d bet it had nothing to do with the lease. If you watched Top Chef Canada you can draw your own conclusions.

I have not been for quite some time [went when visiting from Edmonton] but it is a loss to the dining scene...chef's pastas in particular were outstanding.
Our last visit was not as good as the first one which was terrific. Too popular? Chef overextended with other endeavours?
