Going Away Lunch for a co-worker in Cambridge?
You know how it is. You work somewhere and look every day for somewhere to eat and eventually a place just gets.... Stale. We work in Fresh Pond, but are willing to venture to Davis, Porter, Arlington or Watertown for lunch and would love a nice little spot to send off a co-worker to a new life. Our usual haunts are Elephant Walk or Christopher's in Porter, Foundry on Elm or Diva in Davis or Gran Gusto near us. All are fine, but we haven't been working in the area for very long and I wondered if there were other spots we don't about, aren't thinking of etc. Any suggestions guys?

Golden Garden in Belmont? Rod Dee Thai in Porter, Russell House Tavern, Sofra, Little Q Hot Pot, Red Lentil, Strip T's, Istambu'ul?
Just what comes to mind immediately in that general geographic area.

There's the brand new Casbah that sounds promising. Right off of the rotary.

istanbullu not open for lunch. sofra not comfie for group, imo.otherwise, recs above seem solid, given CH comments.
p.s. our fave pizza, aside from Regina's North End, is 5 min from you at Stone Hearth in Belmont Center. Their homemade sausage is spectacular and the white bean pizza(we add chevre and bacon) topped w/ pesto spinach salad- is terrific.

Istanbullu is open for lunch daily except Tues. Add Kathmandu, Thai Moon (haven't been in a long while, but the room is more comfortable than Rod Dee, whose food I like better), Toraya.

Posto in Davis Square. When I start my new life, I'd be happy starting it there.

Teele Sq is hopping lately...Not been yet, but how about Masala? There's also PJ Ryan's in the vicinity for a nice pub lunch. Depending on which day the lunch will be, True Bistro if the crowd is willing to go vegan for just one meal.

A good place to consider is Golden Garden at 63 Concord Avenue in Belmont, not far from Fresh Pond Circle. They do a fine job with some less-well-known regional Chinese cuisine, and you can find specific menu recommendations on this board. And they're not very busy at lunch-time, so they should be able to accommodate a group.
