ISO Bakery With Not Too Sweet Cakes That Does Photo Cake Printing

I'm looking for a bakery in the South Bay that does cake print (I give them a picture and they give me a cake back with the picture "sprayed" on it) that does "not too sweet" cakes. I'm looking for a cake catered to Asian immigrants as most American bake shops have what they might consider overly sweet cakes. Anyone know where I can find such a bakery?

  1. I see that Draeger's makes a Strawberry Cream Cake.. They also do cake photo printing.. Anyone try that? Any good? Sounds like something that shouldn't be too sweet..

Don't know about Dragers, but have you looked into the Asian or Filipino bakeries in the areas. Once place I have on my list to try because it gets good reviews is Aki's Cakes. They do photo cakes. Maybe someone can comment on Aki's.

A number a people I know who have tried Aki's signature guava cake said it was "OK" and compared it to the guava cake you can get at King's Hawaiian (down in LA--not sure if there is a branch in the Bay Area) which IMO Is also just OK.

    2. Goldilock's does photo cakes, I haven't tried one yet. Many locations: San Jose, South SJ, Milpitas, Union City, Mtn View, etc.:

I've never had the cakes at Goldilocks, but visually, they just look really sweet. Anyone have experience with a Goldilock's cake?

      2. I know someone who ordered a cake from Sheng Kee/Sogo and then had Luckys/Albertsons do the photo sheet overlay -- they then put it on themselves.

Do you know which Lucky/Albertsons? I called a Luckys in the San Jose are and she said none of the Luckys do that.. =( Course she could barely speak English so I'm not sure if she even understood my question.

It wasn't in the South Bay, think it may have been the El Cerrito location.

Thanks for the idea anyway. I ordered a strawberry cream cake from Prolific Oven and a "cake sticker" separately online. I'll just have the bakery put the sticker on for me.
