Piscataway or thereabouts restaurant recommendation

fershore Nov 14, 2011 11:37 AM

We are meeting another couple for dinner on Saturday. The halfway point between us is Piscataway. Searched the board and found only mentions of several Thai places (which one is best?). Would like to hear other recommendations. We enjoy good wine but are happy to bring our own. We like all types of food and are not concerned about price. The most important things are that the atmosphere is pleasant, the service professional and unobtrusive, and the food good. Oh, and the dress casual to upscale casual. Thanks in advance!

If I were you, I would think seriously about crossing the river and looking for a place in New Brunswick. The selection of restaurants there is much better and you should be able to find something that meets your criteria. New Brunswick restaurants have been discussed many, many times on this board so run a search and you'll quickly find a half dozen or so places you should like. Here is a recent thread on NB restaurants to get you started.

We ended up at Due Mari in New Brunswick. Will post a review with the restaurant name in the subject line. Hope I can find the words to encapsulate our experience. It was both a hit and a miss.

You probably saw several posts, including mine, recommending Four Seasons Thai Restaurant on Stelton Road. We've been going there for years. It is the proverbial hole in the wall that serves incredible food. It may be a bit too casual for you, but if you are looking for the best Thai food in the area, this is it. BTW, they are BYO and there is a liquor store two doors down.

Loads of good places are in New Brunswick and Highland Park. What do you like?

Makeda Ethiopian is a really nice treat, though it's pricier than it used to be. Not byob. The Beg Wat is our favorite. There's a good thai place in Highland Park - it's on the southbound side. Service is only ok but the food is GOOD.
