Museum/other event and lunch on Saturdays? (Triangle area)

I have been trying to see more of our area and am venturing out every Saturday around the Triangle. We've done some of the museums downtown followed by J Betski's, and also the Art Museum followed by Neomonde Cafe. I like both of them- any other ideas for museums/other weather appropriate things to do on Saturdays and the lunch spots to go with them?
Thanks y'all!

  1. Maybe not weather appropriate but Farmer's Markets can be fun and then just about any place will be open for lunch or brunch (the latter is more happenin' on a Sunday). You could do a food tour and get an idea of wahts around or a Segway tour as well. I would take a look at The Independent for ideas of things going on in the area that may appeal to you. With holidays coming up, you may be interested in doing a holiday home tour but those are generally in the evening and late afternoon.

I agree with the Farmer's Market recommendation! If you head to the Durham Farmer's Market, there are walking tours every Saturday beginning at 10 by a group named Preservation Durham. check out their calendar. The tour routes and content vary by weekend. After the tour you can walk a few blocks to the Fullsteam Brewery for lunch (they sell growlers @ the market) or go down another block to the Geer St. Garden - an old service station turned beer garden.

Nov 19-20 is also the Durham Art Walk Weekend with venues all over Downtown These may be formal or temporary and you will pass by or be near so many restaurants to suit all tastes and budget (Revolution, Rue Cler, Toast, Dos Perros, Piedmont. Pop's . .

    2. Yates Mill is grinding corn this weekend, but I don't know of a nearby place to get grits & eggs or cornbread & collards.

Tour the NCSU campus and get a burger at Players Retreat & a LocoPop for dessert.

      Ackland museum and Sandwhich.

Brewery tours at Carolina Brewing Co. and/or Aviator and eat with Joyce & Family.

Hike Umstead Park trails & look at the sculptures at SAS and pizza at Bella Mia.

Bennett Place and Allen & Sons.

      1. Just be aware that THIS Saturday is the Raleigh Christmas parade so steer clear.
