Venison Steak Recipe, Please...

We gave our daughter some Venison Steaks (my husband is a hunter) and she is making dinner for her fiancee & another couple. She wanted to know how I prepare them. We marinate and grill them, but she lives in NYC in a tiny apartment, and does not have a grill. So I am hoping someone will help me with a recipe that is not too difficult, that she could use for the venison steaks, using her gas range. If you have favorites sides to serve with the recipe, we'd appreciate those as well. Thank you so much, in advance.

  1. I love to make venison steak au poivre. Super-easy and delicious, in a pan on the stove top. I use Julia Child's recipe from "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" (not the one with Jacques Pepin with cream -- I think the cream smothers the venison!) Despite the intimidating sound, it's really very simple, and the only specialized ingredient it calls for is cognac. You can find the recipe online in the Google Books results.

I like to serve it with roasted or mashed potatoes and a simple green vegetable.

    1. Marinate in red wine with some olive oil and your favorite additives....I like some rosemary. Pan sear, then use the marinade to make a sauce with sauteed mushrooms and shallots.

      1. Thank you! Both of these sound great!
