15 East vs other sushi places

Going to NYC early december. Both wife and I are big sushi lovers. I have a sushi bar reservation at 15 East, based on some reviews from this site. I was hoping for more feedback re: 15 East vs other options. Price is not deciding factor; just looking for the best sushi experience. BTW, have already done Masa a few times and Yasuda.

(Actually think Masa is losing its allure; last time there seemed somehow "mechanical." The food was excellent, but I felt like the chef was just going through the motions and the entire experience was somehow disappointing. Felt like I was watching a play in which the actors had done it too many times and were bored.)

Anyway, sorry for the digression; appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Kyo Ya is excellent for kaiseki style food. 15 East IMHO is the best traditional sushi. For modern Sushi Seki or Sushi Gari. Brushstroke is also a good place for japanese tasting menu, kaiseki-ish.

Is 15 East just as good for lunch as dinner?

Also, the eel at 15 East is spectacular. And, regarding the soba, it's a tiny portion (and a bit expensive) but a veritable treat. I usually have it with the salmon roe, which is a lovely combination of tastes and textures.

15 East is terrific - stick with it. You will not be disappointed.

I understand exactly what you mean about Masa. That is not at all what you will experience at 15 East.

Agree stick with 15 East. Besides sushi, also order the handmade soba -- it's the best in the city.
