it's not good enough to propel me from Playa del Rey at the normal prices.
typically, if i'm going to indulge in the calorie/carb splurge inherent in most italian food i like hosteria del piccolo on broadway in santa monica ( although, if pizza is involved, then it's Stella Rossa.)

ah.
out of the new crop of italian style pizza joints, i think i like mother dough and pizzeria il fico (i believe the old michel richard space) the best.
but ya, i was going to say that the italian in westwood village can't even compete with places also in wewstoow such as la campognala or la bruschetta, which are also not known for being great at all (my favorite along westwood blvd, by far, is still Pastina Trattoria).

westwood = not a pizza destination for me
before stella rossa opened, i used to favor Antica Pizza in the marina.
that was then.
now, if i can't "spend" my pizza calories on stella rossa, i'd just as soon skip it. (one exception to this rule: on occasion, the truffle pizza at cafe del rey hits the spot.)
