  1. Oooh this is a good idea!!! I will have to look out for this. Thanks for the tip.

    1. I hadn't heard of this before. I checked out their website though and I see that it looks like their dark chocolate milk actually has more sugar and calories than their regular chocolate milk!

      http://www.natrel.ca/en/products/

I will still give it a shot when I see it(not sure how the sugar/calories compare to other brands of chocolate milk

      )

      Thanks for the heads up.

Will still have to try it, despite the increased sugar/calories. Sucks about that actually, but oh well. Let's try.

        1. re: ylsf

Natrel's regular chocolate milk is a new product too....

The only chocolate milk I believe they had previously was their lactose free variety - which I thought was okay, but not great.

I look forward to trying both these new products!

        2. It is featured in the Rabba flyer for this week. 2 for $5. Anyone try it yet?

            1 litre, I assume?

          2. On sale for 2/$3 (AMAZING PRICE!) at the Sobey's at Bay/College. I bought one milk chocolate and one dark chocolate, both great. Highly recommend. Great colour.

Ha, yeah, I was just reading through some other flyers (well, not "reading") and saw the Sobey's offer and was going to come back to post it but you beat me to it. Glad to here is tastes good. Going to swing by a Sobey's at some point.

              1. re: canadianbeaver

It was sold out at the College Park Sobeys when I went today in case anyone was going today.

They said more would be in tomorrow. Maybe call ahead to make sure your trip isn't wasted....

                1. re: magic

On another note: isn't that Sobey's amazing?

                  1. re: canadianbeaver

A fine store. They carry some cool things. It's a tad pricey for my cheapskate blood but definitely a good option to have in that area.

                  2. re: magic

I got some at the Sobeys at Yonge/Davisville. Can't wait to try!

                    1. re: magic

Mmmm.... dark chocolate milk is delish. Will try the milk chocolate later on. Crazy beautiful colour on the dark chocolate milk.

                2. tried it and thought it was very good...it reminds me of the Harvey's milkshake, which i love

Delicious - esp when ice cold. Might be even better made with 2% milk. Found it this morning on the shelves at Sobey's St Clair E of Yonge - the manager didn't know it was there and said he was frustrated ordering it, but a clerk found it on some special display shelves. At two for $3 I am stocking up!

                  2. Slightly off-topic but along the same lines.... does anyone know where I can find Sealtest's Hazelnut milk?? I really like it but it is VERY hard to find. Haven't seen it in a while actually.

                    Anyone? Anyone?

                      1. re: magic

I know Sobey's in Markham carries it.

                        1. re: callitasicit

Awesome! What major intersection is this Sobeys near?

                          1. re: magic

There was plenty of this on hand last night at the Sobey' s on St Clair E, just a half block or so E of Yonge on the S side.

Thanks so much Bigtigger, I will definitely be checking out some nearby Sobeys. Seems like they carry it. Good!! They seem tough to find!

                              1. re: magic

I saw them fully stocked at the College Park Sobey's again, but no more sale :(

                                1. re: canadianbeaver

Are we talking about the Natrel chocolate milk? I thought the sale was good until the 17th?

                                  1. re: magic

I was there two days ago as well as yesterday, and there was no sale stickers anymore, it was $3.59 or some such for the milk.

                                    1. re: canadianbeaver

Odd! I was there yesterday, around 2:30 and the sale stickers were there. Hmm.

                                      1. re: magic

! Well that's not fair at all - I'm always there after 5 p.m....I thought it was strange to have the sale end before the week was up. I better go after work today and check again...I wanted to stock up.

                                        1. re: canadianbeaver

That is very odd. Go back again. If it's not on sale, ask customer service what the deal is.... :(

                                          1. re: magic

I bought some at Sobey's last night. They didn't have the milk, just dark so got 2 of those. Enjoyed it.

And yeah, just take it up to the counter and buy it, should ring through until at least end of day today.

I almost didn't spot it as they weren't stocked in the normal "milk" area. Also, the packaging with the gold highlights reminded me of the eggnog packaging and I thought that is what it was and had to take a closer examination to figure it out.

                                            1. re: magic

Yup - not on sale when I went. No stickers up. :-( they saw me coming! haha

                                              1. re: canadianbeaver

                                                ODD!!!! :(

                                                1. re: canadianbeaver

So it scanned not on sale?? Or just no signs up? It is in the flyer, they would have to honour the price (well, not anymore since it is the 18th). If it scanned wrong, I am not sure if they are part of SCOP but potential for a free item if they are...

                                                  1. re: ylsf

If something scans wrong one get an item for free?

                                                    1. re: magic

Possibly, up to $10 value... It depends if the retailer is part of SCOP or not. They are suppose to display signs at the cash but they don't always. And often the cashier has no clue about it (i.e. they will just offer to adjust the price) and the consumer really needs to ask for it often. More details here:

                                                      http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/ei...

According to this list Sobeys is a voluntary member:

                                                      http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/ei...

I don't know if that list is the most up to date one, found it while googling.

And, again, for someone reading this thread now for the first time the sale has ended at Sobeys already.

Bigtigger, I went to the St. Clair/Yonge Sobeys and they do not carry Sealtest Hazelnut milk. If they did at one point they sure don't now. Maybe you were thinking of the buttermilk cartons??

In any case, my desperate search continues.... :(

                              2. Both the dark & regular chocolate milk are on sale this week for 99¢ at Galati's on Burhamthorpe. Picked up some for myself. No limit based on my purchase. Both have expiry dates of March 03.

                                1. If anyone lives around Eglinton/Avenue Rd. and is a cheapwad like me Dave Young carries Natrel chocolate milks (1 litre) for $3.19 regulary. This is the cheapest I've seen it, other than sales...

Also on sale at Fortino's this week. $1.99 each I think it is, plus, I have a few coupons I got from Harbourfront during the skating rink operation (Natrel was a sponsor)

                                  2. Just a heads up that we split a good discussion about pre-made vs. mixing your own chocolate milk to General Chowhounding Topics:

                                    1. If you want the actual best tasting chocolate milk, get the Harmony bottle.

                                      1. re: Chester Eleganté

I like Harmony. It's got its own style. To me, it kinda tastes like melted chocolate ice cream. When I'm in the mood for that style it really hits the spot.

I almost never buy it though because of the hefty deposit charge. Even though I know I'd get $2 returned later I cannot bear the thought of paying $5 for a litre of chocolate milk. Plus I don't care for the fuss of adding another chore to my day in schlepping and returning the used bottle. I'd rather recycle it and get on with my life. (Even though reusing is a great thing as well!)

                                      2. A brilliant idea, but poorly done. I'm a dark chocolate fanatic and the fact that this has more sugar than regular chocolate milk is evident. The sugar obscures the full flavour of the chocolate leaving me wondering what the point/fuss is? I'd rather drink the regular stuff. Verdict: Meh.

                                        1. Bought mine at Fresh Co in Whitby last weekend.
I am drinking it right now... and it is WONDERFUL!!!

I tried it with a shot of dark rum, and it was WONDERFULER!!!

                                            2. I just came back from the Metro at Shops at Don Mills where they were giving out tasting samples and discount coupons which can be applied on top of the current sale price.

I tried it this week. My wife says it tastes like the bottom of a glass of poorly mixed home-made chocolate milk. I must say I agree with her. It made me want to cut it with plain milk, which I did.

                                              2. I'm super late to this, but I have seen it at T&T (specifically, the Cherry St. location).
