Good Restaurant in Cohoes area?

Hi, I am going to Choes Music Theatre in a couple of weeks and am looking for a good place to eat before the play. There will be 6 of us and the play starts at 8:00. We are interested in a place in the Latham/Cohoes area. Specifically north and east of exit 5 of 87 but south of the twin bridges. I am totally unfamiliar with the area. We are looking to be out of the restaurant by 7:00 so we will sit a little before 5:30. Reasonable cost, most entrees below $20.00. Does anyone know of any place the fits the bill?

Two suggestions, both of which probably fit your budget, and are close to the theater. Black Cat Ale House, which serves somewhat elevated pub food, and Smith's, a venerable restaurant a short walk from the theater, which is under new management. I haven't eaten at Smith's under the present owners, but it's where I'd go with your requirements. You wouldn't have to be out of the restaurant by 7; you could linger until 7:55, and still make your curtain.

I like Red's in Cohoes for good fried seafood. I have not been there for a few years, so you have to check if it is still in business.

Are you talking about Red's in Coxsackie? That's a good old place, but the OP is asking about Cohoes, north of Albany instead of south.

Maybe Fred19 is talking about Matt's Seafood on Saratoga Street in Cohoes, or if they go back far enough, they could even be thinking of the long gone Mac's Seafood on Bridge St. Mac's was well regarded by many during its day and viewed as one of the best seafood restaurants in the Tri-Cities.

        Try Al-Baraki http://www.al-baraki.com
It's walking distance from the theater, has nice Lebanese food, and meets your cost requirement.

If you like Indian, Karavalli is wonderful and is on the border between Latham and Cohoes.

My choice would be D'Raymonds Restaurant (they have web site) Great food, just a few miles west of Cohoes. Not sure you can get a meal under $20.00, but you might want to look at their menu just in case. The veal dishes are to die for, but not cheap.
