Great Sandwiches at Fundamental LA in Westwood. Menu changes daily. Casual and tiny with wonderful food.

Just had the chicken torta at Fundamental with TOMATILLO SALSA, LETTUCE, COTIJA, CREMA, PICKLED JALAPENOS and GUAC on bolillo bread only $9. Great Sandwich.

also love their braised short rib sandwich with
SRIRACHA BBQ SAUCE, APPLE/JALAPENO SLAW on brioche

Smith House in Westwood....just across from the Century City mall at Santa Monica and Beverly Glenn....is relatively new and has good food. I've only been twice for lunch....but the burgers were really very good. Lots of other basic choices. Great selection of beers.

How could Smithhouse be so stupid as to create an extensive website with several menus and NOT post prices?!

On their website, if you click on where it says to download to see "full color version here", that gives you the prices. It looks on the same prices as Houston's or Gulfstream or Rock Sugar in the mall. I went the first month it opened when it still had the Angelo Sosa Pub-Asian fusion menu and had the Bone Marrow Burger and it was good if a bit salty. The cheesecake in a jar was delicious. It looks like both items are now gone. It's not a destination restaurant but it's not a bad lunch spot.

Just discovered the cafe in the Hammer museum. it is in an interior courtyard, with heat lamps. Sandwiches and salads made with locally grown produce, fairly moderate prices, and it was very lively when we were there. Food was good. A nice alternative to other Westwood village restaurants, and pretty close to halfway between SM and Miracle Mile (5 miles to LACMA and probably around the same to the beach. )

                    of restaurants on your list:

every single dish that has ever been served to me at The Grill on the Alley has been Excellent.

                    re: nook
if you end up going there, my recommendation is to stay away from the fish; stick to the "comfort food."
