Thoughts on Hot Stuff Cafe?

For those who have never heard of it, it's a small restaurant in San Gabriel that has some Asian cafe food and some interestingly prepared dishes. There hasn't been much if any discussion about the place on this board, but I usually enjoy their prix fixe menu (which you can see on their Facebook page). If I want to have a decent date night but don't feel like driving too far, I'll usually come here or Babita.

Just thought the menus and execution warranted some mention on our board.

The atmosphere is kinda low key but the food is very upscale. Lots of Asian flavored with French technique. The food is great but the space and location do make an odd match.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I really like this place - just took some friends here this weekend... this place is a great value compared to similar restaurants IMHO...

        I like it.

I think they do well with seafood items.

But I'm not sure I would consider it a "date night" destination. Taking a date to a restaurant next to a 7-Eleven just feels kind of awkward, or George Castanza-ish.

Well, I am a T-Bone kinda guy. Besides... there's plenty of sushi places in weird spots that I would go for dates. Just off the top of my head, Sushi Zo next to the taco place, Go's Mart next to the laundromat, and Shibucho next to lord knows what (maybe a 7-11 also, now that I think about it).

Odd locale is sort of de rigeur for a good sushi spot, no?
