Looking for a Quick Early Dinner in JP
We need somewhere on Saturday night where we can be done in about an hour, so places like 10 Tables are out. We're flexible as to cuisine, more interested in food than drinks. Most recently tried the Haven and were underwhelmed. Any suggestions?

Reporting back: we wound up at Tres Gatos and were very happy. A variety of small dishes exceeded our expectations, particularly the large shrimp in garlic sauce (better than several versions we've had at other Spanish restaurants around town) and a confit chicken thigh with brussels sprouts and chanterelles. Service was prompt and friendly.

Had a good meal at Tres Gatos a few months back - would happily go back.
And, contrary to other posts had an enjoyable early dinner at the bar at Canary Square on Sunday. Started with the tofu/leek dumplings. Didn't care for the sweet/hot dipping sauce, but Sriracha did the trick. Also had the tuna tacos - rare tuna, guac, sour cream. The black bean salad was nothing to write home about - canned black beans, lots of cumin. Overall a quick, satisfying meal, great beer selection, and I just liked the vibe there.

The Ten Tables bar side would be perfect, actually. You can easily get out of there in an hour.
I'd personally avoid Canary Square- opting for Tres Gatos instead since you didn't like The Haven. I've never had a good meal at Canary Square. Avoid Blue Nile just for the time constraints.
On the opposite end of town, VeeVee is an option (opt for bar service again), as well as Ghazal, if you are up for Indian.

re: Kirs
Second VeeVee -- the bar is small, but they keep most of their tables for 2 open for walk-ins. Ten Tables has been much easier to score a seat after opening the bar side. Tres Gatos is a nice vibe, and good food if you can get a seat. And finally, it's not much for atmosphere, but the new little sushi place called Super Fusion, near the Monument, is rarely crowded and serves you a ridiculous amount of sushi for the price.

re: C. Hamster
Canary Square was good for brunch on our one visit. Well-cooked cheddar scrambled eggs, homefries a little heavy on the paprika but still tasty, and decent if non-traditional huevos rancheros. I haven't been for dinner.
Service was rather indifferent. Staff seemed to enjoy socializing together rather than give coffee refills, etc. We'll give it another try based on the brunch food, though, and see if service has improved.

Two ideas: I really enjoyed (most of) the small plates at Tres Gatos. You can sit at the bar, have some nibbles and wine and be out in an hour I'd think. Be sure to take a few minutes to browse the bookstore in the back.
Haven't eaten there, but the food at Canary Square has always looked and smelled good when I've gone in for a drink. The place is vast so I'd think you'd have no problem getting in early on a Saturday.
Oh, and one more: you could head up towards Rozzie (a quick 5 minutes drive?) and get a great pressed Sandwich at Tostado sandwich bar. No booze and just a few seats but well worth it for the food.
