Brunch Sunday before touring ROM

Looking for something that's not too expensive and won't have the usual Toronto brunch-fan huge queues to get in. Ideas??

Sorry, I just remembered I promised to report on La Societe. Food was fine, waiter was new at his job, so a bit hit or miss. Room was VERY crowded and noisy with many small children. Next time, I'd ask to be seated in the small bar/lounge instead of the main DR. But there WILL be a next time!

I went to Over Easy once. Got to agree, it's really mediocre....waited for ages, was served salad from a bag with rotton pieces in it, sent it back and was then served more of the same salad. Asked the server "would you eat this?" she said no. Complained and got nowhere with them. Would never recommend going there.

That is so completely different from my experiences there. I've been to Over Easy many times (never for non-breakfast food) and have always had quick service. I recommend any dish with ham. Unlike lots of other breakfast places, they have proper, baked on the bone ham. Oh, and they have real Hollandaise.

or if you are going on a Sunday, I recommend the Brunch Buffet @ Bloor St. Diner. Very fair price and decent food.

Flo's is one of my favorites but has HORRIBLE line ups. Bloor Street Diner is so so for food.
We have a reservation at la Societe and will report after!

I would recommend Insomnia Cafe on Bloor/Bathurst. Nice, simple brunch menu that's prepared well.

I would throw in La Société in the mix as a couple of friends have recommended their Pirx Fix menu.

I really enjoyed the French Toast at La Societe. Not a diner feel but a decent option.

Caren's Wine and Cheese has a great brunch. I just saw your response above though and it definitely isn't diner-ish.

Ditto on "Over Easy". Totally mediocre. Prefer every other rec on this thread - expanding the radius slightly, you could also add Aroma, Insomnia and Cantine.

Great idea, Jennjen!
I love C5 (had brunch there 2 weeks ago) and do want to get to the Gallery Grill sometime, but my friend was hoping for something 'diner-ish'. Over Easy fits the bill and couldn't be more conveniently located.

But it doesn't open until 12:00.
Only 5 minutes away.

Gallery Grill at Hart House does a nice brunch. It's just around the corner from the ROM.

While not cheap, C5 has a lovely brunch and it's in the same building.
