Pastry flour and rendered leaf lard in Boston area?

I'm trying to stock up on ingredients for a Thanksgiving pie and I'm wondering where in the Boston area I can find these items:

King Arthur pastry flour
Rendered leaf lard

I haven't been able to find the pastry flour in any markets, so I assume I will have to order that one online but please post if you know where to find it.

  1. Depending on how far afield you want to go the Market Basket in Burlington has a HUGE selection of flours, though I can't vouch for certain on the pastry flour.

As for rendered lard, it seems that you have to go high end: Savenor's or John Dewar, or just render your own.

The Somerville MB has KA cake flour (KA also has a different product called "pastry flour" that I haven't seen in any store). I think the 2lb box is about $3, but don't hold me to that.

      Here's the product: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/unbleached-cake-flour-blend

Here are a couple threads from 2008 and 2009 where people were looking for cake and/or pastry flour:

KA pastry flour is even lower in protein than this unbleached cake flour (8.0% vs. 9.4%.) Confusingly, KA also offers "Queen Guinevere cake flour", which is super-low protein (7.0%) and bleached, as well as "mellow pastry blend" which is a mixture of AP and pastry flour with 10.3% protein.

NONE of those varieties except the boxed unbleached cake flour is likely to be found in local stores.

    2. Pete and Jens Backyard Birds in Concord has rendered leaf lard.
