Good place for dinner with kids downtown during holidays?

I'm looking for a place to take a party of 8 that includes 4 kids (youngest is 8, all are pretty sophisticated diners) the sunday before Christmas. Would like a festive environment perhaps near embarcadero ice skating rink or union square...or easy to get to fro those places. Unfortuantely our guests don't like Chinese which would have been fun..darn! any suggestions for a place with good food that won't ruin us financially? Thank you

15 yr old DD recently attended a friend's birthday luncheon at Zero Zero & enjoyed the food very much.

Thanks for the tips! Zero Zero was more affordable and I was able to make a reservation there. We are looking forward to a great meal there in December. Thanks for taking the itme to write with your recommendations.

I'll throw out LuLu since no one else has weighed in. My kids have always liked it. It's active and noisy, you can see a lot of the cooking being done at the rotisserie and oven. They serve family style and the food is very good. It's near Yerba Buena so it's not too far from the skating rink or Union Square.
