casual, quiet spot for dinner with GREAT food in SF for next Saturday

Hubby and I won a night stay at the Hyatt in SFand will be there for my birthday 11/12. We are looking for a casual, quiet spot for dinner with GREAT food. Preferance is Italian, California, fish, but will consider others if we can get a reservation. Help please. (we have a car since we are just coming from the east bay)

Quiet and great food on Friday is a tough combination since places tend to be completely full.

did you call or just try Opentable? because often if you call a place they'll have a table that OT isn't showing.

Canteen would fit your California request - OT says first table is at 9:15 - and since they do 2 seatings a night, that might be accurate. but you can still call.
